I was also recommended by my Urologist to take a half teaspoon of baking soda to 16oz of water twice a day which did help me for several months but now I no longer need to do this.

Angie,
I have had years of UTIs and had tests performed by a urologist. Nothing could be found except for some urinary retention which means fluids sit in the bladder for longer periods of time. I was drinking colas and coffee which were the cause of my bladder irritation resulting in UTIs. I now add half cup of water to half cup of coffee and drink more water and less colas. I have had no UTIs for over a year now.

I've had UTI's in the past 2 months. 1st one went to ER & got meds. Cleared up & then 5 weeks later another UTI! Called my GY/OBY & got a different meds. Still taking them. I had a UTI over 32 years ago until now. The only difference is new man in my life. Using condoms. Maybe that's the culprit? Cranberry juice works great & plenty of water. I will try the baking soda trick, though. Hope to solve this quickly!

Although cranberry juice may help some people, it does not help all. Of a matter of fact it can worsen one! I have cronic kidney and uti's. After numerous surgeries and doctors, it has came to notice in fact that allergies especially cranberry juice makes it worse. It has come finally to my attention that in fact I have been mis diagnosed all these years. My bladder lining is bleeding. So,I am here to say that cranberry juice makes it worse. Doctors should give food allergy tests before informing someone to drink cranberry juice!
