Choosing The Right Drug Rehab Program

ByJonathan Huttner

Choosing a drug rehab program is a difficult decision. Nobody wants drug addiction to overtake their life to the point that drug rehab is the necessary step. However, the decision to go to drug rehab is something to look forward to, as it is the decision to rebuild a healthy life. Understanding what drug addiction entails and how it affects the user is important for healing substance abuse. As well as understanding drug addiction, knowing what drug rehab is will help the patient understand what he is going through and the purpose of drug rehab. Lastly, the type of drug rehab program is of vital importance for the patient. Understanding what a drug rehab program is and what a drug rehab program does, will make all the difference in the world. A drug rehab program, then, is the path that leads to an effective treatment of drug addiction. Research has shown that drug addiction is treatable. Research has not shown, and will not show, that addiction treatment is easy.

Which drug rehab program?

Educate yourself when choosing a drug rehab program. There are many different types of drug rehabs, varying in cost, length of stay and philosophy. Make sure that the drug rehab you choose makes sense to you. Look into the credentials of the drug rehab staff and the licenses of the drug rehab itself. Although a bit scary, entering drug rehab is an exciting time. It is the beginning of the end of your drug addiction and the beginning of a new life.

If you need help in locating an effective drug rehab program you can call the national drug rehab helpline at 1-800-511-9225 or go to www.recoveryconnection.org to locate a drug rehab program near you. Click here if you require help locating a drug rehab program that treats ==>dual diagnosis

    Hi all,

We found a wonderful small, rehab in Destin Florida. Narconon Gulf Coast, they had a beautiful large beach house, with excellent staff and a chef. My son was able to go there and get better. He had been to several 12 step programs that did not work. This place has a 90 percent cure rate. The place was not an institution type place. They helped our family. their number is 850-837-2799.
    good luck all

Excellent article. I spent 20 years working the 12 steps ,2 meetings a day , being of service going to all the round-ups and conventions but could not get past the drug cravings hence a relapse every 12-18 months
I also found a Narconon (Arrowhead ) in Oklahoma and it ended the cycle of relapse for over 4 years

I know of a great program that is a Mission Training Bible Center and they have several centers in different states. You can get information by the internet and the website is http://www.missionteens.com

I failed to mention that this program is not expensive. It is a faith based program that is run from donations. If you need help and cannot afford rehab you really need to check this out. It has a great success rate.

I know of a few places in Texas that can help. The Genesis Center is a women’s shelter in Kaufman County that offers a faith based drug program. It is ran off of donations so money is not needed. They also let mothers bring their kids with them and it is great! There is a shelter for men in Athens Texas and one in Waxahachie Texas that have good outcomes as well. I can only wish everyone with addiction probles the best of luck, I know how hard it can be. I am about to have 6 months of sobriety under my belt and couldn’t be more excited. I am relying on my God and going to N.A. and it is working for me.Keep your faith in some kind of Higher Power and He with give you strength!

You do not need to go to a rehab if you are not chemically dependant, I.E. abusing alcohol, or other drugs, whether it be Prescription or street drugs. Alanon will help you to get well by helping you to live a healthy lifestyle, while not giving in to his behaviours. i am a recovering alcoholic, and my Ex went to Alanon to get herself together, not for me. Hope that this helps. Jim C. Harrisburg, Pa. 01/04

THIS WEBPAGE IS PROPAGANDA FOR SCIENTOLOGY. NARCANON WAS FOUNDED AND IS BASED IN SCIENTOLOGY. SEVERAL PEOPLE DIE IN THEIR PROGRAMS EACH YEAR DUE TO THEIR UNWILLINGNESS TO USE DETOX MEDICATIONS AND MANDATORY SAUNA USE.

If by some odd chance you get this, ask the county in which you live if they will help pick up the expense. I live in Allegheny County (PA) and when my insurance ran out they were willing to pick up another 2 weeks of rehab. Although I didn’t use it, I am happy to say I am 3 years, 3 months and 1 day clean and sober today. PTL

DEBBIE, IS YOUR SON STILL WELL . I HAVE READ ALL THE POSTING AND I FEEL FOR ALL THE PEOPLE THAT WANT HELP, BUT HAVE NO MONEY TO PAY FOR TREATMENT. I JUST READ A WONDERFUL BOOK THAT THE FOUNDER OF PASSAGE IN CALIFORNIA WROTE AND I WAS SO HAPPY TO HEAR THAT IT IS POSSIBLE TO GET WELL.,BUT ONLY IF YOU HAVE MONEY. THE PROGRAM THERE COST $78,500.00 AND A SCHOLARSHIP IT WOULD COST ONLY ONLY $17,500.00. HOW IS SOMEONE WITH NO JOB AND NO INSURANCE GOING TO AFFORD THAT TYPE OF MONEY. I FEEL THAT WHEN YOU GET CAUGHT AND HAVE TO PAY FINES, THIS MONEY SHOULD BE PUT BACK INTO REHABS FOR PEOPLE THAT HAVE NO MONEY. I KNOW THERE ARE SOME OUT THEY NOT TO EXPENSIVE, BUT YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. I DON;T THINK IT VERY FAIR. ANY WAY I SPOKE MY PEACE AND NO MUST GO. IF ANYONE HAS ANY SUGGESTION FOR MY SON, IT WOULD BE GREAT.
