It is a common sight that although one pays a lot of attention to his physical appearance but he does not pay much attention on teeth. Life has become so hectic that one forgets to take care of his teeth. With the advent of science and technology, dental implants prove a blessing to many people who suffer from bad or misaligned tooth. With the usage of dental implants, there is relief to the sufferers who have a bad tooth. Dental implants is done in such a way that no one can even make out the difference. Dental surgeons have devised a great way to cure and restore the earlier smile. With the help of dental implants, the facial structure gets preserved. This helps in preventing bone deterioration which often occurs when teeth are missing.

Dental implants are the fastest growing field in dentistry. Surgical grade titanium is used to make dental implants. This process is the best and finest system in the world. Under dental implants process, tiny titanium posts are inserted into the jaw bone where teeth are missing. The metal anchors are just like tooth substitutes. After that there is surgical placement of them into the jaw bone. Only an oral surgeon, periodontist or a general dentist with specialized training can do this process. Under this process, one can see that the top of the implant is just below the level of gum tissue and exposed to the inside of the mouth by leaving a small hole in the gums. After that, a healing cap is screwed into the threads of the implant to prevent the gum tissue from growing over.

This process of placing dental implants takes about 6-12 weeks following the surgery. This is because the implants bonding with the jawbone takes time. The bone has to actually attach to the implant to provide stability. But it must be realized that this attachment is not the same as that of natural tooth. No periodical ligament is involved. This is a feature in bone to tooth attachment that allows for tooth movement through bone. Dental implants cannot be moved orthodontically nor are exposed to any kind of forces that cause natural teeth to move in response. It must be taken into consideration that if implants are being considered with multiple missing teeth, then the dentist must plan the number of implants and the type of restoration.

Dental implants are an excellent option to those, who need to replace teeth. Safe, highly effective and a comfortable way to replace your teeth is what dental implants offer. The implant procedure depends on several factors like patient’s dental health, the number of teeth involved etc. All these factors determine the total number of visits by the client to the dentist. It is true that placement in the lower jaw need about three months to heal, while placements in the upper jaw need about six months to heal. In case of many missing teeth, implants are usually done to support a removable denture.

——————————————————————————–

Clear braces help you get that perfect alignment for your teeth

A warm smile, even from a stranger, can make your day when you are feeling really low. Hence, you too, should not hold yourself back from smiling as it not only increases your face value but gives you an improved sense of self esteem and confidence. However, in order to confidently flash that brilliant smile, you also need to have your pearly whites in perfect order. If you have misaligned, broken, chipped or stained teeth then it is only natural that you will not want to flash your smile in public and be self conscious. Our teeth may not be in the best of health due to illness, disease, accident or sheer negligence on our part. Young children and teenagers are often seen wearing metallic braces that help to rectify the shape of your teeth and get the alignment right. However, wearing braces also alters your appearance and you may again feel self conscious and awkward about wearing braces, hence not many adults would want to opt for braces.

Clear braces have managed to do away with this problem and now more and more people are adopting this method of rectifying teeth alignment problems.

Clear braces are invisalign braces that are made of a transparent material that make sit impossible for others to spot a person who is wearing these braces. Also, they are more lightweight than the traditional metal braces and hence more comfortable for the wearer. You can easily carry off these clear braces even at social or public gatherings without feeling self conscious about your appearance. The braces need to be taken off during certain times like whenever you are eating a meal or brushing your teeth and hence this may in turn slow down the process of treatment. Metal braces achieved results faster because they were worn constantly by the user and hence the pressure was maintained on the teeth constantly for certain duration.

Clear braces have provided the opportunity to adults of rectifying the alignment of your teeth without feeling uncomfortable or conscious. However, one of the crucial criteria to be followed before you opt for the process is to find the right dentist to treat your case. You can easily locate the best dentist in your city through the yellow pages or the internet or through the reference of his or her clients. Once, you have the doctor of your choice, then make sure that you make yourself aware of the entire procedure and the care required after the treatment to ensure better results and good oral health.

The field of medical science has made vast progress and now restorative and cosmetic dentistry can rectify almost any dental problem. The advent of clear braces has made even alignment treatment much more desirable. However, it is always better to ensure that you maintain a regular oral health and hygiene routine in order to ensure the best possible health for you teeth and to keep them in good condition and to keep your smile intact forever.

In the past several decades the use of dental implants instead of bridges and dentures has exploded in popularity as they offer a more natural look, feel and function, because they are permanently fixed in the mouth.

The scientific research that allowed these to come into being began in the 1950’s with the discovery that metal titanium had an ability to bond with bone. This very strong bond to surrounding bone is a process termed “osseointegration”, coming from the Latin word “osseus” meaning “bony”.

After years of careful research and study, dental implants (titanium cylinders placed into the jawbone to support replacement teeth) have been refined with high success rates. There are now patients who have had implant supported teeth for more than twenty-five years. No more the need for dentures and bridges, it’s easier to eat, looks better and much more easily cared for.

”I tell my patients with missing teeth that they should consider dental implants.”, explains Dr. Maddahi. “If you, like millions of Americans, have lost one or more teeth, you may be all too familiar with the unpleasant consequences. For many, missing teeth lead to an unattractive smile, embarrassment from loose dentures, and pain or difficulty with eating. Traditional dentistry can provide replacements for missing teeth using bridges, removable partials and dentures; however, each of these has its problems.”

Bridgework usually involves altering natural teeth to provide a stable foundation for support of replacement teeth. Partials and dentures can, at times, be very unstable leading to denture sores or speech difficulties. Another little known problem associated with tooth loss is a process known as ‘atrophy’, a shrinking of the jawbone that can progress over the years. Bone atrophy not only affects jaw function, but can cause adverse facial cosmetic changes.

Dental implants are an effective, safe and predictable solution to the problems resulting from missing teeth. Many patients report they like the look more, and state that the implants feel and function like natural teeth.

Dr. Maddahi likes to inform his patients of the basis of his choices. “Dental implants are substitutes for the roots of missing teeth. They act as an anchor for a replacement tooth or crown or a set of replacement teeth. Replacing missing teeth is important to an individual’s general health and to the health of remaining teeth. Chewing ability is lost when a tooth is lost. Unreplaced teeth can cause other teeth to be lost, tipped or crowded and create subsequent problems. There are also the obvious problems of poor appearance and loss of self-esteem caused by one or more missing teeth.”

Dr. Kourosh Maddahi, has been specializing in creating beautiful, natural smiles and superior dental health for 20 years and is located in Beverly Hills at 436 N. Roxbury Drive, Suite 202 and can be reached at 310-888-7797.

by Ray Gallagher

I first considered laser teeth whitening a few months ago after I noticed that my smile now isn’t as bright as it’s been in the past. I have to chalk this change up to my ongoing habit of drinking at least three cups of coffee per day, and (yes, I’ll admit it) smoking a few too many cigarettes over the years. I had tried all of the home treatments and over-the-counter whiteners that I could find, but wasn’t making any progress. So I figured it was time to stop wasting money on products that didn’t work and to try laser teeth whitening instead.

I had heard about laser teeth whitening when it first came on the scene many years ago. Although I was intrigued right from the start, I never seriously considered having these treatments because the price was way out of my reach. But it seemed like enough time had passed that laser teeth whitening would be more affordable these days, so I started checking for more information.

<!--

The more I read about laser teeth whitening, the more I was convinced that it was the right procedure for me. For one thing, this process was a lot faster than other methods traditionally employed by dentists. Instead of having to sit through hours of treatments over the course of several weeks (or even months), laser teeth whitening can be done in less than an hour in some cases! Sure, there are variables to consider and everyone will have a different timeline based on what their dental professional thinks is best, but on the whole I think it’s safe to say that laser teeth whitening is faster than other treatments. Another thing I liked about laser teeth whitening is that the process itself is painless (though there might be some sensitivity afterward). I hate being in a dentist’s chair to begin with, so a pain-free procedure would definitely be a bonus.

The next step for me was to find a dentist in my area that offered laser teeth whitening. I checked the Internet and discovered several websites that offered searchable databases of qualified dentists. I was able to search by state and zip code, and soon found a few promising candidates. I scheduled a consultation with each and ended up choosing the one that offered low-cost laser teeth whitening.

I am very pleased with the results of this treatment. The procedure went off without a hitch, leaving me with a nice white smile that I can be proud of. I am now fully convinced that laser teeth whitening works, and I recommend this process to anyone that wants a more beautiful smile.

In this crazy world we we live in we require some precautions. At times we often forget how things can change so quickly. Insurance, or in the case of this article dental insurance is one safety net we can all take advantage of at one time or another. Dental insurance plans can be important for us when unexpected emergencies arise. When it comes to our bodies, we have to be responsible. The same is true when it comes to dental care insurance. It’s not very responsible to assume we can handle any bills that may arise on our own. Things can get pretty hairy. While most of us want and need some sort of health insurance, dental insurance plans are important as well. We only get one set of permanent teeth so we’d better take care of them. However, this can be expensive.

If you’ve ever went to the dentist, you’ve probably received a routine cleaning. If you have one of the many dental insurance plans available today, you most likely didn’t pay much when it was all over. This is the mere foreshadowing of dental insurance plans and their benefits. Now, if you’ve ever had a cavity, you know this can get pricey. Well, what about two or three cavities? This can break the bank. There went the car payment. Of course that’s only if you don’t have a dental insurance plan.

I was one of those ignorant few who didn’t believe in dental insurance plans. Since I didn’t ever need to take medicine dental insurance wasn’t something I thought I needed either. I never had cavities so I never had dental health insurance. My personal dental care and dental hygiene was very good so why even look at dental insurance plans. I took special care of my pearly whites. What was the point of me paying out every month for something I didn’t use. This is a common misconception about insurance, particularly dental insurance. Then one day I was chewing on some hard candy. No big deal. I did it on occasion.

Unfortunately the next day, I noticed that one of my molars was sensitive to cold liquids. I let it go for a about month or so, until it drove me insane. Finally I headed to the dentist, who told me I had a cracked tooth. I was shocked of course. Now came the big price to fix it. In the end I conformed to the benefits of dental insurance plans. Life is just too crazy to ever have a true grasp on what may happen next. So the next thing I did was look for the best dental insurance plan I could find.

Although some may never truly need the dentist, it is always good to consider your children if you have any. Are their teeth straight? You will certainly want a dental insurance plan if they’re not. Braces will cost you a fortune. Trust me, I’ve paid for them twice. It’s no pretty picture. In the end, dental insurance plans are basically a part of life. Like health plans, we need them at some point or another. To get an idea on various dental plans offered, check online.
