Why You Should Invest In An Air Purifier

Do you know the air in your home has ten times more pollutants and allergens than the air outside? The reason is because the air in your home is not circulating. As a result, people with sensitive noses and those with respiratory problems may feel uncomfortable.

A good air purifier can solve the problem. It helps to circulate the air in your home and filter the pollutants, dust and allergens leaving the air clean and healthy to breathe. A good air purifier can also get rid of bad odors in the house.

However, there are many brands of air purifiers available on the market. The prices can also vary from less than $100 to more than $3000. So how do you pick an air purifier that is suitable for your needs?

There are a few points to take note when buying an air purifier.

You might want to check the MERV rating of the air purifier. The MERV rating is a standard that is used to measure the efficiency of an air purifier. A rating of 6 to 12 is considered good. This rating should be stated on the box of the air purifier.

Another indicator of a good air purifier is the CADR rating. It is a rating that can tell you the rate at which clean air is delivered. Generally, the higher the number, the better. It is also more expensive. On most air purifier boxes, it is usually measured against three contaminants namely, smoke, pollen and dust.

Another important factor is the air filter. You may need to factor in the cost of replacing the air filter since it is a consumable item. Some air filters for certain brands can be expensive too.

I was given a lumipure air purifier and it does not work. The model # AP-74 3052201 ANSVUL 867. Does this help. Please respond. The fan does not seem to work. It has a round ultra-violet light in the top and three puttons for timer, power and speed. Please respond. Thank you.

Don’t trust the CADR ratings on any air cleaners or air purifiers! The Entire CADR rating system is a scam! Go to http://www.aircleaners.com. Go to the front page and scroll down to the Beneficial Reports Section. Read the report titled Consumer Reports Magazine Recommends Inferior Air Cleaners. Read this 7 page report and learn the real truth about what not to believe and how to choose a proper air cleaner or air purifier.

I BOUGHT 3 IRONIC AIR CLEANERS FOR MY BOYFRIEND FOR CHRISTMAS ABOUT 4 YEARS AGO,I HAVE FOLLOWED ALL THE DIRECTIONS,CLEANED THE FILTER EVERY 2 WEEKS,SOMETIMES MORE OFTEN. JUST LAST MONTH 2 OF THEM STOPPED WORKING. THAT WAS A BIG INVESTMENT FOR 4 YEARS. I DON’T KNOW IF THERE IS SOMEONE WHO WORKS ON THEM.

I bought a Hyla the end of Feb. 08. DON’T BUY IT!!! You can get the same results from other cheaper vacuums. It does not clean the air as claimed. My 15 month old son was just chasing the dust particles in the air last evening that were floating in the sunbeams. I was told today (4 months after buying the thing) that I am supposed to vacuum every day and then leave the hose unattached and leave it run for another 30 minutes in order to have the clean air. I have had problems with the power head not wanting to stay on, the brush on the bare floor head won’t come down and the plug and cord are very hot when I unplug it after use.

It takes me almost 2 hours to vacuum my house by the time I put it all together, vacuum, and clean and dry the inside of the vacuum when done. My house is 2,500 sq ft but only three room have wall to wall carpet most of it has hardwood or ceramic floors which I use my Swiffer cloths on.

I have been trying to return the machine for several months now but have gotten no satisfaction from the local office or the national office in Deerfield, Fl. The salesman actually turned his back on me and hid out in the back of the store until I left the first time I took it in. I spoke with the owner of the local company today. (Now that I have contacted the finance company they are willing to call and talk to me) He sat on his desk and twisted the cord around and around itself (the same cord that already gets hot when plugged in) swinging his feet trying to call me a liar and there was nothing he could do about returning the vacuum.

My opinion, If you hear or see the name Hyla turn around and walk away!! I wish I had.

    Willis Fath,
I really doubt that you know shit about the economy, you seem to be barely literate! Dumbass!

I sure hope you don’t vote.

Don’t buy Holmes® HEPA type Tower Air Purifier – HAP422B-U. The only virtues are superficial: the towers look elegant and take up little space. And OK in the summer it acts as a cooling fan. I don’t know that it does any more than a fan.

However it came with little instructions, with no pictures, diagrams or any real explanations. The filter is almost impossible to change. The door has to be forced open to near breaking; and while you’re lining it up to close it back, three of the items keep slipping out of place. Putting it on the floor to do this doesn’t help because it rolls around.

I can’t find any numbers to call, no online instructions, and I can’t get the red change filter light to turn off now that I’ve changed the filter. The ion light is cool but there’s no instructions as to when and how to use it.

The production must have been outsourced to China, and no translaters were hired.

Ecoquest International has an air purifier that is easy to maintain with a vacume cleaner each month and the cost of operation is about $90.00-$120.00 every three years. Unlike a filter it sends an invisable plasma throughout your entire home sanitizing and purifing the air and sanitizing surfaces. It tells you when to perform cleaning and even when you need parts, this unit will let you know! Units over 20 years old are still in top operating condition today! No filters to change and replacement parts are a breeze to do yourself!

I purchased two Ionic Breeze Quadra Air Purifiers from Sharper Image.

The Sharper Image has gone bankrupt. Your friend is correct. I learned from a friend that they produce ozone. When I learned that, I called Sharper Image and they sent me ozone guards that clip on the front.

My problem now is that I destroyed the collection grid, a plastic part broke off from the bottom.

I was wondering if any one has tried the eco-quest air purifier? It is about the size of a shoe box and has no filters.

My husband and I have several Hunter air cleaners we purchased from HSN. They do a great job. The only drawback is the filters are costly. Anyone needing an absolutely certain solution, I would recommend the Hunter brand. If anyone knows of a model with a washable filter, let me know.

I agree with other posts concerning the Ionic Pro. I checked on-line for ratings, and no problems were apparent, so I purchased one–DON’T. I cleaned the filter as directed, but after a little less than a year the “clean” light came on, and stayed on after I cleaned the filter; thus rendering the unit unusable. I am very disappointed, and have switched to the Oreck XL air purifier. So far, so good.

I agree with other posts concerning the Ionic Pro. Although ratings were good at the time I purchased the unit, after less than a year, and with continuous upkeep, the unit’s “clean” light came on and will not shut off. This renders the unit unusable, even after thorough cleaning. I checked several other comment pages, and many folks have had the same problem with no resolution. Don’t buy this air purifier!

Oreck ProShield™ Plus Air Purifier with Helios Shield™ just came out on 8/20/2009 and so far it is the best I have seen. My wife is sensitive to smells and I have allergies. I trashed my old Oreck air purifier and just picked up two of the new ones. I just got tired of paying for all the filters plus I get 30 days to try. Will post more when my month is up but so far I am sleeping great with it in our room and my wife has noticed that house smells have gone way down.
